KVORNING won the competition for a feasibility study for the Lofoten Aquarium in Kabelvåg, Norway, on behalf of Museum Nord and SKREI Eiendom. The aquarium is part of the new, large museum project SKREI in Lofoten, Norway, where work on the main building, Otolitten, is already well underway.
KVORNING’s international winning team consists of Danish experts in animal welfare, Norwegian architects Rintala Eggertsson, Danish Aquaconstruct and Australian aquarium technologists as sub-consultants. Project Manager Jens-Henrik Andersen, SKREI, stated: “We are very pleased to have secured such a skilled partner as KVORNING on our team, with strong expertise in exhibition design and practical experience with aquariums.
We look forward to jointly exploring the possibilities for further development of the Lofot Aquarium. The feasibility study runs parallel with the construction of SKREI. In collaboration with KVORNING, we aim to create an aquarium that is a great place to be for fish, animals, visitors, and staff alike—and that enhances the communication of the fascinating life in the Lofoten Sea.”
