ARCHBISHOP’S PALACE AND CATHEDRAL

KVORNING, SLA, and Substrata developed a preliminary study and an overall spatial plan for the outdoor areas, courtyards, and workshops of the Archbishop’s Palace and the cathedral. Furthermore, a concept for a series of permanent and temporary exhibitions in the Archbishop’s Palace, at Nidaros Cathedral’s Restoration Workshop, as well as for parts of the Norwegian Crown Jewels stored in the vaults beneath the Archbishop’s Palace.
Nidaros Cathedral’s Restoration Workshop has ambitious plans regarding the upcoming 1,000-year anniversary celebrations in 2030.
It was a fantastic and highly engaging task to develop ideas and concepts for all the permanent exhibitions, while we also worked on strategies for further developing the outdoor areas into attractive urban spaces and introduced ideas and initiatives for interpretation and audience engagement.
