KVORNING won an international planning and design competition for the Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre in Lærdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. The project involves upgrading the building and all exhibitions, introducing a new entrance, improving visitor flow, and creating attractive resting areas both indoors and outdoors.
The centre provides insight into the lifecycle of the Atlantic salmon, the management of wild salmon populations, and the traditions surrounding salmon fishing. General Manager Alf Olsen Jr. of the Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre said: “The winning project demonstrates a fine balance between renewal without too much change or alteration to the centre’s unique expression.”
CEO and Creative Director Arne Kvorning of KVORNING added: “Our team is excited to have the opportunity to help rethink the Norwegian Wild Salmon Centre in Lærdal. The winning proposal also includes a concept for potential leisure facilities along the river, which we call ‘Salmon Cabins’.”
