KVORNING won the commission to develop the experience design and aquarium design for a very large oceanarium and coral farm in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The client and lead consultant was the American architecture firm SOM – Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

This was KVORNING’s largest project to date involving the development of aquarium-based experiences – the oceanarium in Jeddah will include eight large pavilions as well as a central outdoor aquarium basin. The project featured a very large number of interactive experiences for both children and adults.

The assignment covered Concept Design and Developed Design, and KVORNING was part of this exciting project for just over a year. AAT from Australia and Gagarin from Iceland were close collaborators on the project.
