Vega Archipelago World Heritage Visitor Centre

CLIENT: VEGA ARCHIPELAGO WORLD HERITAGE
PROJECT: PERMANENT EXHIBITION
LOCATION: VEGA, NORWAY
Vega, close to the Arctic Circle, Norway, is one of the world’s most fascinating archipelagos. More than 230 bird species, eiders in particular, thrive on the 6,500 islands, islets and rocks.
Kvorning designed the main exhibition for the Vega Archipelago World Heritage Visitor Centre. An abstract retelling of the archipelago’s contrasting landscape with steep mountain sides and flat islands just above sea level. A playful, atmospheric interpretation of the balance between nature and culture – eider and man – over the centuries.
The Vega Archipelago World Heritage Visitor Centre is one of Norways first UNESCO Visitor Centres. Kvorning won the permanent exhibition in international competition.
