The Escape 1943 inaugurated

In October 1943, thousands of Danish Jews fled across the Øresund to Sweden to avoid being deported. Many Danish Jews arrived in Landskrona, and the reception of the refugees is part of the town’s history and should continue to be remembered.

THE ESCAPE 1943 is conceived as a single narrative about humanity and courage, using a carefully considered scenographic and dramaturgical approach that engages visitors from beginning to end. A distinct narrative also emerges around the Landskrona Citadel and its role as a hostel and reception center for refugees both during the war and in the years 1945–53.

KVORNING won the Landskrona Municipality tender to develop and help realize the concept for the new museum at the Landskrona Citadel in co-operation with the museum. The commission also included graphic identity, interactive elements, animation, and film making.

H.R.H Crown Princess Victoria inaugurated the museum on May 29, 2026.
