Harteværket Visitorcentre open to the public

Once Denmark’s biggest hydropower plant, now a cultural heritage and family attraction, Harteværket Visitorcentre, Kolding, was opened by Danish minister of energy, utilities and climate Lars Chr. Lilleholt.

Kvorning Design & Communication has provided the exhibition concept, design manuals, signage and dissemination concept. Both concepts and materials have been developed in close collaboration with the staff and management at Harteværket, as well as NIRAS and Baumann Boe-Whitehorn Arkitekter.

Still producing electricity, Harteværket is indeed an authentic setting. In the magnificent old turbine hall and the fascinating basement with its huge, red pipes, both grownups and kids can observe how water is turned into electricity. The centre also features a water playground which lets the little ones play and explore the subject on their own terms.
